Understanding PRP for Hair Loss
Hair loss is never welcome. In fact, when you notice your hair starting to thin, it can be demoralizing. The good news is that, though hair loss may seem inevitable, it doesn’t have to be permanent. There have been a number of scientific advances that allow for safe and effective medical hair restoration, without the need for surgical intervention.
One of the most popular options is PRP treatment, which harnesses the body’s own healing ability to help restore healthy hair production. This is a treatment we are proud to offer to men and women alike here at Javan Wellness. Take just a moment to review some of the basics of what PRP treatment is, and why it’s such a promising method.
What is PRP Treatment?
When we talk about PRP, we’re talking about platelet-rich plasma. Specifically, we’re referencing a process that unfolds in three basic steps:
- First, blood is harvested from the client. This is very simple and easy, and generally involves a quick blood draw from your arm… just like if you were going in for blood work as part of your annual physical check-up.
- The blood we harvest is then processed in a centrifuge, which spins the blood and separates the platelet-rich plasma from the red blood cells. In other words, we isolate the parts of the blood that are especially high in natural healing properties.
- That PRP is then injected back into your hair follicles, where it stimulates new blood flow and unlocks the regenerative properties of your skin. Ideally, this “wakes up” dormant follicles, and leads to renewed hair production in areas where you’d gone bald!
All told, it’s a very simple procedure. All of it can be done in-house, without the need for anesthesia or any kind of after-care or downtime. And unlike medications and topical solutions, PRP treatments rely on the natural, built-in healing ability of your own body, making it a truly holistic approach.
Are You a Good Candidate for PRP?
We’ve found PRP to be highly effective for many of our clients, and we recommend it to anyone with mild, moderate, or even advanced hair loss.
When you visit us at Javan Wellness, we can talk with you about some of the specifics of the treatment, and also verify that you’re a good candidate for this holistic approach. Note that, to get the full desired results, most clients will need three PRP treatments, spread out by four to six weeks.
You won’t see results overnight, but most patients do see significant progress within the first three to six months.
Hair Restoration is Attainable
It’s easy to feel discouraged by hair loss, to assume there’s nothing you can do about it. That couldn’t be further from the truth. There are real answers for hair regrowth, requiring neither icky topical solutions nor invasive surgery. PRP treatment is a prime example.
