JAVAN Patient Gives the Real Skinny on a Plasma Facial Experience

I finally tried Microneedling with Plasma at Javan Anti-Aging and Wellness Institute. I’ve never been happy with the texture of my skin! After my initial consultation, we decided that a series of Microneedling appointments would really help my acne scarring and skin pigmentation concerns as well as the lines and wrinkles I was developing. I want to share the whole procedure with you in case you have been thinking about trying it out yourself.

Plasma is also known as collagen induction therapy. It improves large pores, acne scars, melasma, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, fine lines and dull skin to name a few. Although Microneedling can be done alone, when combined with Plasma from your own blood, it gets a super boost to produce even more collagen stimulation and speed up healing time.

I want to share a little about what my skin is like. This is a picture of me before the Microneedling. I’m 37 years old. I had severe cystic acne in my 20s and it has left me with acne-scarred skin and pigmentation issues. As I aged, I felt that the uneven texture was becoming more pronounced and I began to see the fine lines on my face form into deeper wrinkles. The medical staff at Javan were super informative and answered all of my questions and concerns. The clinical aesthetics nurse specialist helped me understand that Microneedling is more effective when done preventatively, so I didn’t want to wait 10 more years before taking the leap!

Ready for how this works? I had no idea what to expect! Check out my pics below! Be warned, there’s a reason it’s nicknamed the Vampire facial! My face looks pretty bloody in the photos, but I promise it was tolerable and worth it (in my opinion).

First numbing cream was applied to my face and neck. This needs to sit on your face for about 30 minutes prior to Microneedling, and you’ll want to be numb, trust me! While we were waiting for the numbing to take effect, my blood was drawn and put into a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from Plasma.

Next, the syringe with Plasma was inserted into the Microneedling Pen which is an important distinction from many of the older devices still in use at many medical spas. Because the syringe is directly attached to the pen, there is less risk of cross contamination than if the Plasma was simply spread across my face and then pushed it into the skin with MicroPen needles.

It’s less scary than it looks! Because Javan Anti-Aging and Wellness Institute is a medical spa, they have a special pen that is able to go deeper than many Microneedling devices. Additionally, the syringe with Plasma was actually inserted into the Microneedling Pen which is an important distinction from many of the older devices still in use at many medical spas. Because the syringe is directly attached to the pen, there is less risk of cross contamination than if the Plasma was simply spread across my face and then pushed it into the skin with the needles.

You may be thinking that the final step involves wiping the blood off of my face. In fact, I learned that you are supposed to leave the Plasma sitting on the looking like a bit like a stabbing victim!

Right after the treatment, my skin felt a little raw, kind of like I had a mild sunburn, but not painful. I couldn’t wear makeup for the first 3 day and was instructed to keep my face well hydrated with the special products recommended by the staff at Javan.

My skin was dry for the next 5-7 days and peeled a little, but by the end of the first week by skin was GLOWING. Not even joking, this is the best my skin has looked in at least 20 years! I can’t wait to see what will happen after the series of treatments the staff recommended. Stay tuned!
